Can Hids burn out?
Since HID lights do not have a filament in them that could burn out like halogen lights, HID light bulbs can last 2000-3000 hours vs 450-1000 hours for halogen light bulbs. The light emitted by the bulb will shift slightly from a yellowish color to a more crisp blue color.
Do HIDs need to warm up?
HID lighting requires a “warm-up” period because the lighting intensity is dependent on and changes as the material inside the bulb is evaporated into plasma. Additionally, as the light heats up it requires additional voltage to operate.
Why does my hid kit only turn on one side?
Only one side is working on my HID kit or LED kit. If one side sometimes doesn’t turn on it could be caused by a bad bulb, HID ballast, LED driver or wiring. To help identify which component is defective follow these steps. Swap the ignitors to opposing sides (not applicable for LED kits).
Why are my HID lights flickering in my car?
You can easily test this by connecting the HID kit directly to the car battery. If the kit works, it is a power issue. To resolve this, you will need a wiring harness. If your car has Daytime Running Lights (DRL) flickering is usually caused by the lower voltage needed to run the DRL at half power.
What should I do if my HID light bulb is bad?
Swap the HID or LED bulbs to opposing sides. If the problem is reversed, you might have a bad bulb. This step will check if you have a bad bulb. To perform this test, please swap your bulbs to opposing sides and note what happens to your kit. If none of the above helps, please check for loose connections.
