Where is the multimeter on a Nissan Versa?

Stick the multimeter up on the cowl (in front of the windshield). Set it DC mode and turn the key, but don’t try to start it. Pin 1 should have a constant 11-12 volts. Next check pin 36, you should see the multimeter jump to 11-12 volts for just a second and then quickly start going down.

What to do if your fuel pump is filthy?

You can stick a cap over nipple just to keep the fumes and loose fuel to a minimum. Oh and your fuel pump will probably be filthy. This access port opens to outside, mine was filthy. This is after some heavy windex and rags. Which I would recommend when working around the fuel pump just to keep particles from getting in the fuel tank.

Are there any issues with the fuel pump?

The fuel pump, pressure regulator and IPDM are all known to be issues, the pump and regulator more so. See this thread for info on pressure regulator service bulletin. What happened to us was that the car died.

How can I tell if my Nissan Versa fuel pump is bad?

Testing your Versa’s fuel pressure on each side of the pump would be the best way to diagnose this problem. A priming fuel pump sounds like a high-pitched whine for a few seconds and can be heard with a sharp engine right after the ignition key is turned, but before the starter is engaged.

Why does my Nissan Versa not start up?

If the fuel filter has become so contaminated that the minimum amount of fuel has not been let through it, the engine won’t start at all. At the most basic of levels your Nissan Versa needs three things to start: Air, fuel, and spark. If any of these things aren’t present, the engine won’t turn over at all.

How can I tell if my fuel pump is working?

The only way to truly tell is to place a fuel pressure gauge on both sides of the line and get a reading from both. If your car isn’t starting at all, and you hear the fuel pump prime that is usually a good indication that the pump is working to some capacity.
