To have the dome light to remain off when you turn off the car, you’ll have to put the dome switch to off and not in the middle. There might be something in techstream that can be changed to have the lights remained off when you turn off the car and turn on when you open the door. Not sure though.

Have a 2007 Impala LT that I bought several months ago. It has the map lights on the bottom of the rear view mirror and a backseat dome light. Neither of these come on when the doors are open. The courtesy (footwell) lights come on, so that means the door switches are working, but none of the others do. It makes it very hard to see at night.
