How does an access switch work in a VSS?
An access switch connects to both chassis of the VSS using one logical port channel. The VSS manages redundancy and load balancing on the port channel. This capability enables a loop-free Layer 2 network topology. The VSS also simplifies the Layer 3 network topology because the VSS reduces the number of routing peers in the network.
How does a VSS work with a V SS?
For example, a V SS in the distribution layer of the network interacts with the access and core networks as if it were a single switch. See Figure 4-2. An access switch connects to both chassis of the VSS using one logical port channel. The VSS manages redundancy and load balancing on the port channel.
How many MECs can a VSS switch handle?
A multichassis EtherChannel (MEC) is a port channel that spans the two chassis of a VSS. The access switch views the MEC as a standard port channel. See Figure 4-4. The VSS supports a maximum of 512 EtherChannels. Th is limit applies to the combined total of regular EtherChannels and MECs.
How is the virtual switch link ( VSL ) implemented?
The virtual switch link (VSL) is a special link that carries control and data traffic between the two chassis of a VSS, as shown in Figure 4-3. The VSL is implemented as an EtherChannel with up to eight links. The VSL gives control traffic higher priority than data traffic so that control messages are never discarded.
What are the wires for the VSS signal?
Wires for the two signals are lime green/black and purple/white at both the connector at the transfer case and at the PCM. I checked continuity of both wires and both showed open.
Is the VSS sensor still good after removal?
Measured original VSS sensor after removal and its impedance measured roughly 1930 ohms. Measured replacement VSS sensor and it also was roughly 1930 ohms in impedance, making me believe the original VSS sensor is still good.
Where is the VSS adapter on the 2500HD?
Does anyone have a very thorough schematic for the VSS sensor circuit on the 2500HD with 6.0L shat gives better information as to where the “Vehicle Speed Sensor Adapter” is located so that I can start tracing down wire continuity from that point?
Where does the VSS signal go in a PCM?
It looks like the adapter allows for the VSS base harness for the 2WD version to be extended out to the transfer case for the 4WD. My guess that I will verify tonight is that the VSS signal wires go a different route from the transmission to the PCM than the rest of the harness that it looks like the VSS signals join and then exit back out.
