What happens when you put a bike in reverse?

When I put the bike in reverse and reverse the engine misfires, as in the spark being cut to the engine. It seems like some sort of very over zealous speed limiter coming in, however on this model I fail to recollect if there is a reverse speed limiter on it.

Why does engine cut out only when in reverse?

Sometimes it’s fine, other’s it sputters in reverse even at very slow speeds. Brake levers are all the way forward, so I’m guessing it’s something to do with the reverse switch. Where is it and can it be cleaned or is it a replace only item. It’s on the side of the shifter (remove the left tank cover to get to it easily).

What to do if your car is cutting out in reverse?

First thing to check is to make sure the front (right) brake lever is returning all the way and shutting the start in gear switch off. Second would be the reverse switch on the side of the shifter. Like toodeep said, make sure the front right brake lever isnt sticking because there is a safety switch on it.

Is there a way to turn off engine cutting out?

Either the switch works or it doesn’t. As long as the shifter goes back far enough to activate the switch and it ohms out (open or closed depending on where the shifter is) it’s good. Interesting.

How big can a reverse gearbox be for a motorcycle?

Jack Fleming, over at Roadstercycle, was having the same issue as everyone else and finally decided to get a major race transmission builder to produce a solution that was small, lightweight (just over 15 pounds) and able to handle up to 500 horsepower. Jack gave them the specs and here’s the unit he got back.
