What kind of fuel does a 420 rancher use?
Grungy, old ethanol fuel will clobber a fuel pump. I had to replace my neighbor’s 420 fuel pump because ethanol fuel had varnished it up to the point that it would not spin – cleaning and a new filter did not help. I used an OEM Honda pump and no problems since.

It would sputter a bit and stop running, but once it cooled off, it would crank and run fine. We began by changing the fuel filter and fuel pump (was an aftermarket). It wouldn’t even crank then. The injector seemed to be just sputtering fuel, so we changed the injector.

Lower power, lower MPG, and is horrible for fuel systems. 99.9% of the carb and fuel pump issues I see are due to ethanol gas. I use ethanol free in all of my small engines and haven’t had a carb issue since I stopped using ethanol gas.
