What was the problem with my Sportster clutch?
My problem started when riding the fwy to work and noticed slipping in 5th gear, when giving it the throttle. More noise, no go! Tried all the adjustments, changed fluids and fluid level, nothing really worked. I couldn’t afford a dearler visit, as my bike was just out of warranty last month.

Everyone knows about the story of motor oils containing “Friction Modifiers” being bad for wet clutches, that such oils, if used in a bike with a wet clutch, can cause the clutch to slip, requiring new clutch plates, yada, yada, yada. I’ve been hearing/reading this for years.
Do you need to change the oil in a Ducati dry clutch?
You can add that a HD does not require that kind of oil in the engine because the engine oil never contacts the clutch. HD uses 3 separate oil holes and changes those lubricants at different service intervals. A dry clutch like on a few imports, I have read that Ducati is one of them, also does not care about the JASO rating.

Which is easier to adjust Sportster clutch or Big Twin?
By the way the clutch on the sporty is easier to adjust than the big twin. Derby cover keeps the adjuyster in place not a set nut. Now one thought, what handlbar levers on on the bike?
