Which is better a Honda Shadow or a Harley?

Just got the bike as a project (first one). Installed new plugs/K&N air filter and it has Jardine slip on pipes. Not sure if it’s been jetted. Ran for 30K on new plug and here is what it looks like. The bike once and a while has a very light back fire.
