Why does my bike keep backfiring and sputtering?
Tonight, I decide to ride to the gas station and fill it up. The whole way there, and back, it kept doing the same thing. The only time it didn’t sputter and backfire, was when I was going up hill (25-30MPH in 2nd gear. Does anyone have any idea what would cause my bike to act like this? I’d appreciate any help/advice you guys could give me.

Unscrew the ignition module from the bracket and wiggle the wires when the bike is on. If you duplicate the issue, that’s it. That could also be why it starts sometimes and not others. Bc you’re turning the key on and off and it’s “hitting” right or wrong.

Intermittent cutting out. Turns out it WAS the cylinder head temp sensor. This issue lasted almost a year without throwing a code a drove me nuts. It kills the bike by falsely telling the ECM the bike is too hot, which in turn then shuts the bike down.

On the stock Keihin, you have to remove the float bowl. If its a carb. bike check the vacuum line that runs from the fuel petcock to the carb. Make sure it has a good connection on both ends . So, after cleaning the spark plugs and dumping in a can of HEET, the bike is running great. I really appreciate all your advice, everyone.

Basically, she’ll start up fine and idle around 1500-2000 rpm (full choke) but upon going to 1/2 choke or giving her any throttle, she dies. I assume it’s due for a carb adjustment of some sort, but I need a point in the right direction. Thanks!
