Where is the index mark on a XR 80?
If your bike is a 79 to 84 XR 80 with the alloy flywheel with the “F” & “T” marks on the outside , the INDEX mark is on the timing case with the cover removed , the same as it is on the early XR 75 . On 85 and up 80’s with steel flywheels it’s on the actual engine case to the right at the 1.30 o’clock point as stated in my earlier reply !

How do you change timing chain on Honda XR 80?
Remove the camchain sprocket bolts and drop the sprocket down so you can remove the chain. Take tension off of the camchain by loosening the adjustment screw and pushing the tension rod downwards, which straightens out the tensioner. Lock tensioner bolt back down to prevent the tensioner from bowing back inwards.
