Not that the ABS system can’t fail on the later 1150 bikes as there were/are some ABS system failures throughout the entire 1150RT year range. As to OVERRIDING the brake system if an ABS system failure occurs. They will stop with a failed ABS controller just not great & not like a conventional braking system.

The only issue for you might be the Integrated brake on the earlier models. They are aggressive at low speeds and due to the brake pedal working both front and rear they can contribute to dropping the bike while maneuvering at slow speeds unless you practice a bit. The 2003 and later are more progressive.
