Why is my Polaris Ranger hard to shift?
I brought it home took it off the trailer and all of a sudden it’s really hard to shift out of low. I was driving in low for about 15 min to break in the belt when I went to change into high it wouldn’t move at all. I forced it into high but now it’s really hard to shift into any gear. Any suggestions? The most common reason is a high idle.

Ok so the dealer says that the clutch has belt debris in the needle bearings and they have to order the price to take the clutch apart so it will be about 2 weeks before I know exactly what’s wrong Holy cow man, that seems like a long time for that.

Why is my shift belt so hard to shift?
Gotta pop off you clutch covers and see why the belt is being driven by the primary at idle. Could have a broken motor mount, primary could be plugged up with crap causing it to not open enough at idle to release the belt.

But the dealer told me it was caused by the clutch release spring being too light and the engagement speed too low. they put a heavier spring in it and it worked good for three weeks. now its doing the same thing again and getting progressively worse. i’ll be taking it back to the dealer very soon.
What’s the idle speed on a Polaris Ranger?
I bought mine last sept. and it was always tight but never had to shut it off till now and it only has 60 miles on it,I tried turning the idle down and that did not help my idle speed (2012 model) is factory set at 1000 rpm. give or take a few rpm depending on temperature and load on the alternator. 1100 is to high I think.
What happens if I sell someone a Polaris Ranger?
If I personally sold someone a $12000 machine on a payment plan, it turned out to be a lemon, and they came back and said “screw you buddy, I’m not giving you another $8000, you can take your machine back”, I can’t imagine I’d be trying to guilt them into paying me the remainder by extolling the moral virtues of honoring their commitments.

I have a 2” lift in the front and no lift in the back. The lift in the back made the back feel unstable and the back wheel would come off the ground when riding hard into a corner. With the front lift and stock in the rear, the back would then sag and make the steering feel light at high speeds.

The 2010’s thru 2013 had a different trans with a main drive chain. Now that they’ve went back to a trans without a main drive chain, just a rear chain. Aren’t a lot of the problems mentioned gone now? The shaft that was shimmed still has lots of play in it, so it’s definitely not in a bind, or binding the case.
Is the Ford Ranger hard or delayed shifting?
Had a little girl and she just turned one, that has taken most of my free time. The delay in reverse happens every time, as does the harsh delayed shift. Honestly I think it got worse in two weeks of sitting in my driveway. The fluid level is spot on.

Another trouble area seems to be the front differential. SuperATV sells an aluminum sprague carrier to replace the plastic oem unit. It’s only listed for 2010 Ranger 800’s. Did Polaris switch to metal in the 2011+ Rangers?
How often does a Ranger front diff failure occur?
Never seen a front diff failure myself, but we really don’t spend much time in AWD. Prop shaft U joints on these things are a bit of a wear item as well (always have been). Usually they’ll go 500-800 hours before they start getting loose. The trans is divorced.
