How many miles does a KTM 525 exc have?
I have almost 7,000 miles and 210 hours on my 07 525 EXC. This bike replaced my 99 LC4 enduro that I had 36,000+ miles on it. The LC4 is a much better dual sport bike, but the extra 61 lbs is a real pain to manage in deep whoops at higher speeds or deep sand.
Are there any problems with the KTM 525?
I have an 06 525 I purchased new and have had zero problems. Awesome bike! Valves need frequent adjustment and for dual sporting get DJH from KTM talk to redo your head with SS Kibblewhite valves that last forever. Left side crank bearings are prone to failure. Not much to do here until it fails. 5th and 6th gears wear out in heavy dual sport use.

Every single KTM 450 or 525 I’ve had within my sight runs hotter then the HSQ 450 or 510 fuel injected or carbed when tested with same rider/same day with one of them fancy and very expensive IR thermometers. The HSQ’s even hold .3L less volume then the KTM’s and in some cases even have the same exact radiators.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to ride the new 525 and the 450 back-to-back. At 9000 to 13,000 feet, the 525 still had great power.
How much torque does a KTM 525 have?
One of the main beauties of the 525 is, of course, torque. And at 10,000 feet, when most other mounts feel about as powerful as a skateboard, the big KTM still has boost to spare.

In fact, it has so much reserve power that riders hardly noticed the almost 20 percent loss from lack of oxygen at that altitude. We already knew that the 2004 525 E/XC would be awesome in the mountains, but we just couldn’t resist testing it at the inaugural CycleFest held in late August at Copper Mountain outside Breckenridge, Colorado.
