Is the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 a good bike?
I got into the adventure-touring bikes in 2010 with a V-Strom 1000, then to a 2014 BMW 1200GS, then in 2019 back to another Suzuki, DL1000-XT. Heated hand grips should be standard equipment. A Givi bash plate gives good lower engine protection on dirt & gravel, which the bike copes with very well. Handling on bitumen is excellent.
Is the Ducati V Strom in the mix?
Took out the V Strom for a ride as it’s one of the bikes I’m considering. Also in the mix is the new Ninja 1000, Tracer 900 and Multistrada 950. I’ve ridden the 2015 Tracer of these bikes and the 2016 Ninja 1000 but not the Ducati.
Can a 1000 V Strom pull from idle to Red Line?
Only the fuel mapping itself is slighly sub-par for some people which is very easily altered. My TL1000S (which is in a much higher state of tune than a DL motor) will pull cleanly from idle to red-line and its got big cams, valves, TB’s, higher compression and only one butterfly (per tb).
How many gears does a DL1000 Strom have?
So if you ride the DL1000 like you only have 5 gears until you hit 75 mph you will be very happy… but if 80 to 90 mph leaves shit in your shorts, get a smaller front sprocket.
