If the boot (trunk) lid’s not closed, the interior light will remain on. And I’m pretty sure that if the boot lid’s not closed, the top won’t operate either.

Why is the courtesy light not working on my slk200?

When you shut the boot you should now find that the courtesy light goes out and that the roof will now operate. It forms part of the vario roof control system in that it signals that the boot is shut since the vario roof can only operate when the boot is shut.

Can a flat blade prise out a slk200 roof?

Yes, prise out the centre part of the three fasteners with a flat blade (these come out quite easily, they are just locking the main fixings which remain). The main fixings can then also be prised out but these are barbed so require a little more effort.

Located two wires to it one brown/one grey. Suspect they run through the terminal block fixed adjacent to the hydraulic pump. Disconnected upper block,tested across grey and brown,shows continuity with switch not depressed. Depressed switch,no change..but do i have the right wires?

Roof won’t open/close correctly on Mercedes-Benz SLK230. Problem Description. Position switches for the vario roof can fail, causing the roof to stop in the process of opening or closing.

Might not be something you wanna attempt on your own. But if you can pinpoint where the problem is, get a cheap shop to do just that part of the job. Tightening stuff won’t take them long and won’t cost you much. Basically the roof doesnt even sound like there is any current flowing through it.
