E320 CDI Avantguard. 2006. 144,000 miles. Lovely car bought new by a friend and we bought it 3 years ago from them when they upgraded to a new one. No problems til recent acceleration problem sort of limp mode and yellow engine management light on dash. Took to local garage (not mercedes garage)

Over the past six months, we have had on and off problems with our ML 320 CDI with approx. 45.000 KM during 3/4 to full acceleration. The ML would start to go and then “studder” several times, until you let off the gas. Also, a few times while driving on the highway, it went into a sort of limp mode, where max speed was 80 or 100 kmH.

After ” switch off” the engine and starting again – 5min running normally and again smoke. 2. Lost acceleration from time to time. Some times have signal CHECK ENGINE, but later disappeared it self.
