Why did Villchur invent sealed acoustic suspension?
In order for air to supply the cone’s restoring force, it has to be “springy” enough to bounce back, if you will, when it’s compressed. The nice thing is that it will do so with essentially perfect linearity. So Villchur designed a driver with the opposite characteristics from the drivers that existed at the time, in the very early 1950’s.
