If any sensor shorts out the pcm goes dead and the no bus sign shows. On the rear drivers side top of bellhousing is the location for the crank sensor. Unplug the sensor and watch your dash. Your meters will restore and the NO BUS flag will be gone.

The CTM send the signals to the dash pod unit via the CCD bus that are needed for the gauges to operate. It sounds like the problem may still be stereo related. When you disconnected the positive cable it unlock the CTM. Interestingly I had read that disconnecting the negative cable might or might not unlock the CTM.
