Why is my Charger not recognizing my battery?

Why is my Charger not recognizing my battery?

Increasing the voltage with another battery can trigger the charger to start the charging process. There’s a simple way to do this and I’ll cover that below and hopefully you’ll be back up and running in no time!

What does it mean when your battery is reading 0 volts?

If your battery is: Reading 0 volts, chances are the battery experienced a short circuit Cannot reach higher than 10.5 volts when being charged, then the battery has a dead cell Fully charged (according to the battery charger) but the voltage is 12.4 or less, the battery is sulfated

How can you tell if a battery is fully charged?

The voltage of a battery is a good way to determine the state of charge. Here’s a handy table with the breakdown: Cannot reach higher than 10.5 volts when being charged, then the battery has a dead cell Fully charged (according to the battery charger) but the voltage is 12.4 or less, the battery is sulfated

Why is the battery on my RV not charging?

If you check the batteries with a multimeter or voltage meter an hour later, they should still give you the same fully charged reading. If the voltage numbers are going down, then it’s likely a battery problem. Most of the time you will need to replace the problematic battery.

Increasing the voltage with another battery can trigger the charger to start the charging process. There’s a simple way to do this and I’ll cover that below and hopefully you’ll be back up and running in no time!

What to do if your battery regulator is leaking voltage?

If the regulator is leaking voltage, the battery will also be leaking voltage. This is a condition that’s easy to test. Using a multimeter, clip the test light on to the negative terminal of your battery. Next, unplug the regulator to get an accurate voltage reading. Using the test light, touch each of the regulator terminals one at a time.

How can I tell if my alternator is charging the battery?

Use your multimeter (if you don’t have one get one). Turn it to dc volts put your leads on your battery (with the car running), if your alternator is charging it should read from 13.5V-14.5V (thats a good charge). If your not getting a reading from there you can check your output from your alternator.

Why does the battery Guage drop to zero?

Once it drop it stays there until the truck is shut off and restarted. There’s a code P1682 battery charging voltage low. I’m assuming it’s either a bad connection on a problem in the PCM. Disconnected and re-connected the plugs on the PCM.
