Why does my Jeep shut off?
There are three major causes for a stalled engine: A lack of fuel, a lack of air flow and improper ignition. Running out of fuel is one of the most common causes of engine stalling, but dirty fuel injectors or a plugged fuel filter can also be the culprit. Your engine needs air to run properly as well.
Why does my Jeep start and then turn off?
When normally starting the Jeep, if you stop at turning the key to on, you should see the red Security Key light go out. Sometimes it is only one key. If both key react that way, it is most likely the module (separate from the remote lock/unlock module) which I believe is mounted to the steering column under the dash.

How to stop a Jeep Grand Cherokee from stalling?
First, turn the key off, get out of the car, then turn on alarm/security, which should lock the car door. Wait 2 minutes, unlock the security control with the key fob, get in, and try restarting the Jeep. If this doesn’t work, disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes, then reconnect it.

40 people found this helpful. In the instruction manual it states under certain circumstances the engine will shut off when you use the remote starter. My 08 GC did the same thing because the ” check engine” light was on.

What does remote start disabled-start vehicle to reset?
I started my Jeep today and the “check engine” light came on…Later in the day I used the remote start only to find out it will start up for 10 seconds then shut off. EVIC says to “start vehicle to reset” but this does not seem to work.
